Five-time triathlon world champion Javier Gomez Noya pulled out of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday after fracturing his left arm in a bicycle accident.
“Unfortunately this has forced me to pull out of competing in Rio. I need to be realistic, there is no time to prepare and to be fit on the start line of the games,” Gomez Noya said on its Facebook account. “It’s hard to understand how suddenly all the hopes and efforts I’ve invested in the Olympic Games have come to nothing. This might be the worst moment in my sporting career, but I’ve got no other choice but to accept it and think about making a speedy recovery,” said the Ferrol-based athlete.
